On April 23 2026, UCLA Space Medicine Fellow Dr. Michael Boyle visited Kyorin University. Faculty members from both the School of Medicine and the Faculty of Health Sciences gave presentations on the progress of astronaut support in Japan and on related Kyorin University research efforts. This was followed by a dynamic discussion on the future of space medicine with Project Professor Satoshi Furukawa of the School of Medicine (former International Space Station astronaut), who shared insights from his actual spaceflight experience. Dr. Boyle also toured the Kyorin University Hospital Emergency Center and discussed medical collaborations with Dr. Takeaki Matsuda, Professor and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Kyorin University.
