Chronology of Kyorin University

1953	Dr. Shinyu Matsuda opens the Mitaka Shinkawa Hospital, the origin of the university.
1966	Kyorin Junior College is founded. (predecessor of the Faculty of Health Sciences)
1970	The School of Medicine, Kyorin University, and the University Hospital are established.
1972	The Higher Education of Nursing is founded. (now called the Nursing School, affiliated with the School of Medicine)
1976	The Graduate School of Medicine is created.
1979	The Faculty of Health Sciences is founded.
1984	The Faculty of Social Sciences and the Graduate School of Health Sciences are established.
1988	The Faculty of Foreign Studies is founded.
1993	The Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies is founded.
1994	The Department of Nursing in the Faculty of Health Sciences is added.
2004	The Course of International Medical Cooperation in the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies is created.
2006	The Department of Clinical Engneering in the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Department of Corporate Management in the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Department of English, Department of East-Asian Languages and Department of Applied Languages in the Faculty of Foreign Studies are founded.
2007	The Department of Health Studies in the Faculty of Health Sciences is renamed the Department of Health and Welfare. The Department of Paramedics is added to the Faculty of Health Sciences.
2008	The Department of East-Asian Languages is renamed The Department of Chinese-Japanese Languages. The Master's Program of Nursing is founded in the Graduate School of Health Sciences.
2009	The Department of Physical Therapy is added to the Faculty of Health Sciences. The International Language Communication Program is opened in the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies.
2010	The Department of Hospitality and Tourism is added to the Faculty of Foreign Studies. The Doctoral Program of Nursing is added to the Graduate School of Health Sciences.
2011	The Department of Occupational Therapy is added to the Faculty of Health Sciences.
2012	Nursing major and Nursing and School Nursing major established in the Department of Nursing (Faculty of Health Sciences).
2013	Department of Medical Radiological Technology created in the Faculty of Health Sciences.
