日本語課題 → 英語訳 吉田 楓

Up to now, classes like these were not offered in Japan. If anything, oral translation of literary works took a leading part in English classes at university, they were almost all for general education except for English communication classes. However at present, Japanese universities have become to be evaluated from many sides with an international criterion. The role of English has become more critical in classes and in the studies of languages and linguistics.

If Japanese universities were to be evaluated not only in research and internationally, they would have to open themselves up to the world and voice their ideas overseas. When you compare classes in Japan to those in the USA, these questions arise (1) Are they at level to attract students from all over the world? (2) What is the level of the teaching material? (3) Can international students exchange their opinions in class? Because it is conscious of the world, English cannot help itself becoming an important medium for class, together with Japanese.

Technically speaking, the latest papers and writings written overseas are used in seminars, and classes are conducted at higher pace by adopting the original texts. In order to exchange information with foreign universities, the English ability of receiving and sending messages will be necessary.
