本学にVictoria University of Wellingtonの教職員が訪問し、EPPcafeを実施

2015年6月19日(金)に、ヴィクトリア大学ウェリントン校（Victoria University of Wellington）から、Dr. Angela JoeとMr. Simon Hodgeが八王子キャンパスを訪問し、「EPP café」を実施しました。

「EPP café」とは、ビクトリア大学へ留学した際に実際に受講するEnglish Proficiency Program (EPP)の体験クラスの一種で、コーヒー・紅茶・クッキーを囲みながら英語学習をするカフェ形式の授業のことです。
今回は「日本の食べ物とニュージーランドの食べ物」を題材に、形・色・味などの特徴から食べ物を当てるクイズを、教員と学生または学生と学生で出し合いながら英語の授業を行いました。

このカフェはお昼休み時間と3時限目の2セッション開かれ、本学学生が合計42名参加しました。ニュージーランドで有名なMojo CoffeeやWhittakerが提供され、参加した学生は、参加型の授業に積極的に発言しながらカフェ形式のクラスを体験しました。

その後、坂本ロビン外国語学部長と会談し、今後の杏林大学との学術交流や留学プログラムについて話し合いました。

EPP caféに参加した学生からの感想を紹介します。

外国語学部英語学科　岸　智貴　（1セッション目）
As we participated in the EPP café, enjoyed quizzes and the conversation practice while eating cookies and chocolates and drinking coffee which they brought from New Zealand.
Two teachers from New Zealand told us about famous food in New Zealand also explained about EPP program.
This event will be very valuable experience for us.
I was glad that I could participate in the event.

外国語学部英語学科　飯島　明日水　（2セッション目）
We had a valuable experience, and it amazing us that food-culture is very different between New Zealand and Japan.
This café helps us make sense of global understanding.
Also I had interested study abroad through New Zealand’s food such as mojo coffee, tea and cookie time in this class.
