ネイティブ教員4名が順天高校のGlobal Weekでワークショップなどを実施

SGHである順天高校のGlobal　Weekからの講演依頼を受けて、杏林大学から４名の外国人教員が講演やワークショップを高校生と高校教員に対して行いました。

①平成２９年１０月２７日　宮首弘子（張弘）教授　
「あなたの知らない中国の高校生生活」
　杏林大学の中国人留学生６名とともに、高校生２４名に中国と日本の高校生活の違いなどをインタラクティブに講演とディスカッションを行いました。

②平成２９年１１月１日　ポール・スノードン副学長　「Lost　in　Transcription」
　高校生３名と教員５人に向けて、英語のカタカナ表記のことなどについて講演しました。

③平成２９年１１月２日　ジェイソン・サマービル特任講師　
「Students interaction in English using smartphone apps」
高校生１６人と教員４人に対して、スマホのアプリであるPoll Everywhere,
You Tube, Line, Kahoot!　などを実際に利用しながら英語を学ぶというワークショップで生徒たちも大変楽しみながら学習ができました。

④平成２９年１１月８日　マルコム・フィールド教授
「Introducing research methods」
日本人高校生や高校留学生など２名と、３人のAET,　２人の教員が参加し、英語で研究の方法論について学びました。定性研究、定量研究、科学的研究、工学的研究、社会科学的研究などの違いや、その中で使われる技法についてワークショップで質問をやり取りしながら学習できました。

ちなみに③の様子を講師がまとめましたので、下記に載せます。

It was my pleasure to attend the Global Week at Junten Junior and Senior High School on Thursday, November 2nd. I presented a workshop about how smartphones could be incorporated into the English classroom. The title of my workshop was ‘’Student interaction in English using smartphone apps’ and the chosen topic was Theme Parks. A pre-task was given using a QR Scan code which contained questions for the students.

At the beginning of the lesson the students used the same questions as a warmer. Several apps were used during the lesson consisting of tasks for ranking （Poll Everywhere）, video （YouTube）, quiz （Kahoot!）, conversation （LINE and voice recorder）. The students participated well and found the lesson to be very interactive with a high level of speaking. It was a new cutting-edge experience for the students to use their mobile devices in the classroom and although it was a novelty, the students worked hard to maximize speaking chances and improve their English skill. A survey （Poll Everywhere） was given to close the workshop and showed that Kahoot! and LINE were the top two apps.
