ウクライナの文化を体験できるイベント「ウクライナデー」に多くの参加者

ウクライナの文化や伝統、食などを体験してもらうイベント「ウクライナデー」が3月5日（日）杏林大学三鷹キャンパスの松田進勇記念アリーナで開催され、多くの人々でにぎわいました。
アリーナに設置されたステージでは、ウクライナ人の女性たちによる民謡や舞踊が披露されました。色鮮やかな民族衣装まとい、美しい歌声や音楽とともに繰り広げられるパフォーマンスに観衆からは大きな拍手が送られました。アリーナの一角では、ウクライナの民芸品をつくるワークショップが開かれ、多くの親子連れが、イースターエッグ「プィーサンカ」やお守り「モタンカ人形」作りに挑戦しました。また、軽食コーナーでは、ウクライナの食べ物「ボルシチ」やチーズ入り揚げドーナツ「ポンチキ」に舌鼓をうつ人たちの姿が見られました。
イベント開始にあたり、主催者でもある（公財）三鷹国際交流協会の理事長を務める松田剛明杏林学園理事長は、「このイベントを通してウクライナの文化に触れ、ウクライナについて理解を深めることができる一日になればと思っています。そして、母国を離れて暮らすウクライナの人たちに思いを寄せていただけることを願っています」と挨拶しました。
三鷹市は、多摩地域の中でも多くの避難民を受け入れている自治体のひとつです。三鷹国際交流協会では、ウクライナから避難された方々の住居や就労といった生活の基盤を整えるためのサポート活動を行うほか、「ウクライナデー」のようなイベントを通して地域住民との交流の機会を作り、地域における共生を促進しています。市と連携しながら、言語も文化も違う環境で暮らさなければならないウクライナの方々に寄り添って、それぞれに合った適切な支援体制を整えており、杏林大学も様々な側面からその活動に協力しています。
本学の学生も様々な形でウクライナデーをサポートしました。ステージイベントの司会を日本語と英語で担当した英語学科2年生の河邉結衣さんと中野そらさんは、「このようなイベントで自分にできることで参加ができて嬉しいです。皆さんに楽しんでもらいたいです」「イベントに関わる日本人、ウクライナ人のスタッフと交流できたことは貴重な経験でした」と話しました。
また、ワークショップの受付や軽食コーナーのサポートを行ったボランティア団体Feelの学生は、「ウクライナの方々や市民の皆さんと触れあえるめったにない機会です。私たちもウクライナについて知るきっかけになると思います」と話しました。

An event entitled “Ukraine Day” was held on Sunday, March 5 at the Matsuda Shin-yu Memorial Arena on Mitaka Campus of Kyorin University. The event was alive with a lot of people enjoying Ukrainian culture, traditions, and food.
On the stage set up in the arena, women from Ukraine performed folk songs and dances. The audience applauded their colorful folk costumes and beautiful music and their singing voices. In a corner of the arena, a workshop for making Ukrainian folk crafts took place. Parents and children tried handcrafting Ukrainian Easter eggs “Pysanka” and amulets “Motanka dolls.” At the refreshment corner, visitors enjoyed Ukrainian borscht and fried cheese doughnuts “Ponchiki.”
At the start of the event, Takeaki Matsuda, chairman of Kyorin Gakuen, who is chairman of MISHOP (Mitaka International Society for HOsPitality) and also serves as the organizer of the event, said, “I hope visitors have opportunities to experience Ukrainian culture and deepen their understanding of the nation. We also hope they bring their thoughts to the Ukrainians who are forced to live away from their homeland.”
Mitaka City is one of the municipalities in the Tama region that has taken in many refugees. MISHOP is supporting the refugees from Ukraine by helping them to establish a foundation for their lives, such as housing and employment. It also creates opportunities where they can interact with local residents through events such as “Ukraine Day” to promote harmonious coexistence in the community. In cooperation with the city, Kyorin University is working closely with the Ukrainian refugees who have to live in an environment with a different language and culture, and has established an appropriate support system suited to each of them.
Kyorin University students also supported “Ukraine Day” in various ways. Yui Kawabe and Sora Nakano, second-year students in the Faculty of Foreign Studies, who hosted the stage events in both Japanese and English, said, “we are happy to be able to participate in such an event. We hope you enjoy this day. It is a valuable experience for us to interact with the Japanese and Ukrainian staff trying hard to manage the event.”
A student from Feel, a volunteer group that assisted with the workshop reception and refreshment corner, commented, “This is a rare opportunity to meet Ukrainian people and local residents. I think it will be a good opportunity for us to learn more about Ukraine as well.”
