Kyorin Summer English Camp
The Kyorin Summer English Camp was another success. A group of hard working students joined us on the 5th and 6th of August to improve their English skills and have fun. There was a wide range of English skill within the group, but everyone worked well with each other, willing to help each other whenever they could. We began with an activity of creating postcards which were used to help people introduce themselves to one another and practice asking questions to get more information from their partners. That was followed by a scavenger hunt around the campus. Some of the clues were quite challenging, but one group was awesome and collected all fourteen items to claim first prize. Dinner was followed by a short movie. Discussion and speculation focused on the main character’s problems, and what the students would do in such a situation. For the main event, there was the creation of a fake news presentation. This activity gave small groups time to use their imagination, brainstorming techniques, and communication skills to develop news stories. Work was done both individually and as a group. Colorful posters were designed, and the presentations were given on the second day. The presentations were well crafted, full of detail and fun to listen to. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Why don’t you join us for the next Summer Camp?
